big caps charged with DC aren't what electroporators really need

They're expensive and dangerous.  They're passé.

I'm thinking of a pulse generator with all the switching transistor action near ground and the
wild high voltage at the other end of a grounded inductor, with some R and C elements
to shape a pulse...

Such parts could be fairly cheap.

That arrangement could lead to a system design that uses several sets of those
feeding into one microwave oven diode to get a stretched long "square wave" pulse :-)

Just thought of that.
