Yes.  A coil must be AC average of zero current.  So one pushes, the other pushes and the sum stays high.
HV diodes are the switches to latch voltage surges in the volt multipliers for going from 1500V to 3kV.

Can't get to HV by combining any low volt pulses -- pulse merge is done after the volt multipliers by diode action.

The upper diodes in the volt multiplier chain don't see the full 3 kV voltage, so they can all be 2kV withstand and it works
with 1500V swing on transformer output.
